India cricket team star Virat Kohli is all set to return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 after a gap of nearly 15 years. The former Indian captain, who has retired from T20Is and Tests, will use the domestic tournament to prepare for the IND vs NZ ODI series, toeing the BCCI’s guideline for all national players to participate in the tournament during their free time. Kohli has been named in Delhi’s squad for the tournament and is expected to play a couple of matches at least under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant.

To date, Kohli has featured in 17 matches for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with his last appearance coming way back in 2010. He has amassed 910 runs with a highest score of 124, and averages 60.66 in the domestic 50-over format tourney. Virat has struck four fifties and hundreds each in the 16 innings that he has played for Delhi in VHT in the past.

Kohli is also just one run away from joining the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to become just the second Indian to score 16,000 runs in List A games. To date, Virat has amassed 15,999 runs from 342 List A games and averages 57.34. The phenomenal star has 57 hundreds and 84 fifties to his name in the domestic 50-over format.
Kohli is currently active in just the ODI format and will be using this tournament to prepare for the series against New Zealand, which will begin from January 11 onwards. He has been in red-hot form, riding on the back of four fifty-plus scores, including two consecutive hundreds, in the last few ODIs that he has featured in.
