Venkatesh Iyer back to Team Kolkata at a reduced price, in Ashwin's IPL 2026 mock auction

KKR have the highest purse remaining for IPL auction 2026 -- 64.30 cr, with 13 slots remaining to be filled.

IPL auctions over the years have managed to garner a lot of interest; in fact it would not be wrong to say, that it is an event in itself. The IPL auctions 2026 will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16, and there is already a lot of anticipation surrounding it. How much will Cameron Green be sold for, will Prithvi Shaw make a comeback, and if Ravi Bishnoi would become the most expensive player?

Venkatesh Iyer back to Kolkata

For all those questions to be answered, one will have to wait for a few more days, but R Ashwin has come up with his own IPL mock auctions, which give a hint, as to which way the real IPL auction could head. Let us address the elephant in the room first, Venkatesh Iyer was sold again.

The all-rounder who was bought by KKR last year for a massive 23.75 cr, and was released a few days back, once again found buyers in Team Kolkata. But as per Ashwin’s Mock auction, this time around it was at considerably reduced price of 17.5 cr. Yes, as expected, Team Chennai were in an intense bidding war, Mumbai also jumped in for a while, but it was Kolkata who got his services.

Invest heavily in Livingstone

Apart from that, one interesting purchase that Kolkata made, was that of England all-rounder Liam Livingstone for a massive 18.5 cr. He could come in handy, especially after the team could be looking for suitable replacements in all-rounder category. Going further, they also got Jonny Bairstow for 3.75 cr and Ben Duckett for 4 cr, which could solve their batting woes.
