The fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League is all set to begin on January 9 in Navi Mumbai. This time, WPL 2026 has been advanced by a month due to the Men’s T20 World Cup. Hence, the WPL will have the final on February 5, two days before the T20 WC starts. Like the past editions, WPL 2026 will be a five-team affair after all the teams underwent a major overhaul following WPL 2026 Auction.
The WPL 2026 Auction took place on November 27. Five franchises retained a total of 17 players for Rs 33.9 crore. At the auction, teams picked up 67 players, spending a total of Rs 40.80 crore. Deepti Sharma was the most expensive player at the auction as UP Warriorz picked her for Rs 3.20 Crore.

In two editions, the five-team Women’s Premier League has already gained massive popularity. The reason is clear: the franchises. Mumbai Indians lifted the WPL title in the inaugural edition and followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in WPL 2024.
Mumbai Indians (2025)
Mumbai Indians won the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, defeating Delhi Capitals by 8 runs in the final on March 15, 2025, at the Brabourne Stadium (CCI) in Mumbai.This marked their second WPL title (previously winning the inaugural season in 2023), while Delhi Capitals finished as runners-up for the third consecutive year.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2024)
Struck by inconsistencies, RCB Women had a tumultuous WPL 2024. However, they bounced back and qualified for the playoffs. With a narrow victory over Mumbai Indians in the WPL eliminator, RCB cruised to the final. It was a cakewalk in the final as they beat Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets to lift the title.
Mumbai Indians (2023)
Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians took a page out of the men’s team book. With six wins out of eight matches in the league stage, MIW cruised to the WPL final. Delhi Capitals fell short in the final as Nat Sciver-Brunt smashed 60 runs in the final to help MI lift the title.
