Ace India Cricket Team stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been under the scanner for their poor form recently in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Now, England star batter James Vince has come out to defend these ace batters. The Englishman has claimed that the quality of Rohit and Kohli are undeniable and the duo will bounce back very soon.
India was first handed a 3-0 clean sweep by the Kiwis at home in Tests. Following this they were humbled by Australia 3-1 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India’s next red-ball assignment will be a tour to England in June. With reports emerging of axing the two ace batters from the longest format of the game, Vince is convinced that the star batters will quickly bounce back to find their form.
James Vince determined of Rohit-Kohli’s Test Comeback
“It’s hard to predict. English conditions can be bowler-friendly, but they can also favour batters on certain days. The quality of players like Virat and Rohit is undeniable. If they still have the hunger and desire to play Test cricket, history suggests they’ll find a way to perform,” James told IANS on Monday.
“We’re not used to seeing players of that calibre go through extended bad runs, but it shows that they’re human. I’m sure they’ll come back strong if they’re motivated to succeed,” he added.
Rohit Sharma could manage just 31 runs across 5 innings in Australia. Meanwhile, Kohli’s only saving grace was his uneaten century in Perth during the first test match. Rohit Sharma then went on to play Ranji Trophy against Jammu and Kashmir but had a poor outing. He could manage to score only 3 and 28 runs.

As for Virat Kohli, he missed the previous round of the Ranji Trophy but is expected to play for Delhi in the last round of the tournament on 30th January against Railways.
In the BGT, Kohli managed to score 190 runs across 11 innings, showcasing his poor form with the bat. Meanwhile, Rohit has opted out of the last round of the Ranji Trophy game as he will join the India camp for training for the upcoming IND vs ENG ODI series. India’s next target is the ICC Champions Trophy and before it, they will play 3 ODI matches against the Three Lions.
