The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash prize of a whooping Rs 131 crores for Team India following their T20 World Cup win. Suryakumar Yadav and co. created history on Sunday by defeating New Zealand in the final to lift their third T20 WC. The Men in Blue are also the only team to win the title twice in a row and the only team to win the tournament at home.
Rs 131 cr prize money for Team India
The prize money has been increased from Rs 125 crore in 2024 to Rs 131 crore in 2026. Congratulating Team India for their historic win, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia announced the cash reward and lavished praise on the team and members of the support staff.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. India lifted the prestigious trophy after defeating New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, successfully defending the title and becoming the first team in the history of the tournament to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. With this victory, India also became the first team to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times, further cementing their place among the most successful teams in the history of the format. The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said.
India beat New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to win the title. Fifties from Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, coupled with Shivam Dube’s cameo in the last over powered India to a mammoth 255 run total. In response, New Zealand fell flat, thanks to a three-wicket haul from Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah’s figures of 4/15.
