Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav played their roles in helping India win the T20 World Cup 2026.

India’s T20 World Cup celebrations continued in Mumbai on Tuesday as Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis felicitated Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube for their role in the title-winning campaign.

The duo met the Chief Minister at his official residence, where they were felicitated following India’s successful campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Fadnavis congratulated both cricketers and praised their contribution in helping India defend the trophy and bring pride to the country.

Mumbai duo played key role in India’s title run

Suryakumar, who led the Indian side during the tournament, played an important role with the bat as well. The right-hander scored 242 runs in nine matches and finished as India’s third-highest run-getter in the competition. However, it was his captaincy that proved to be more helpful. After his mind-blowing knock against the USA in India’s opening clash, SKY’s bat calmed down a bit. However, the way he led the team was incredible.

Shivam Dube also enjoyed a productive tournament. He was extremely underrated, winning the trophy for the second time running. Batting in the middle order, the left-hander scored 235 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of over 169. His ability to take on spin in the middle overs gave India an edge in several matches.

India sealed the title with a commanding win over New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma powered India to 255/5 before the bowlers wrapped up the chase, bundling New Zealand out for 159 to secure a 96-run victory.

The triumph created several milestones. India became the first team to win a T20 World Cup on home soil and also the first side to successfully defend the title after their 2024 victory. It was also India’s third T20 World Cup crown, adding to the titles won in 2007 and 2024.
