Sri Lanka Women’s cricket team are yet to open their account in the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 and will be hoping they get a late start with a win against Bangladesh, if the weather permits. Against home advantage, two out of the five fixtures that Chamari Athapaththu and co. have been washed out at home at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo. The team has been defeated by India, England and South Africa in the remainder of the fixtures and their chances of making it to the semi-final is now all but over.

So far, Nilakshi de Silva has been the highest run-getter for Sri Lanka in the tournament with 131 runs from 5 matches followed by Athapaththu who has 122 runs to her name. The rest of the batting line-up has fared miserably. Menawhile, Ranaweera is the highest wicket-taker for the side with 7 wickets to her name so far.
