Snubbed Sai Kishore claims he's one of the 'best spinners in India'

Sai Kishore believes that he is one of the best spinners in India at the moment and is ready to play for India when the chance arrives

Tamil Nadu cricketer Sai Kishore has claimed that he is among the best spinners in India at this point of time and is actively working on improving his batting and bowling. The 28-year-old, who has featured only in three T20Is so far, was last seen in action in the County Championship earlier this year for Surrey. Despite putting up consistent performances over the years in both red-ball and white-ball domestic cricket, Kishore has failed to break into the Indian Test or ODI side.

Kishore ready to play for India whenever he gets the chance

Speaking to news agency ANI, Kishore said that he believes with all humility that he is one of the best spinners in the country at this point of time. He was arguably one of the best bowlers for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 where he finished with 19 wickets from 15 games, faring better than his teammate Rashid Khan. He wasn’t a part of the South Zone’s squad for Duleep Trophy neither has he been included in India A squads for the multi-day games and one-day games against Australia A. Undeterred by these snubs, Kishore affirmed that he is ready for the opportunity to play for India, whenever it comes.

I am definitely working on my batting and fielding. Not just these things, even my bowling with that regard to be multi-skilful if I can say that. I feel I am one of the best spinners in the country going around. I have already told this, and I really believe, and with all humility, I feel that. And whenever the chance comes, I think I will be ready for it,” Kishore said.

Talking about how the mindset of batters facing spinners has changed, Kishore pointed out that the former were now attacking the latter rather than just grinding. He said that Indian batters will be up for a challenge in the upcoming Test series against West Indies while also backing them to fare well against the Men in Maroon.

The way of playing spin has changed. People now are very fearless, and they like to attack the spinner rather than just grinding the spinner. I wouldn’t say the quality of playing spin has declined. People are more counter-attacking. People are playing with more fearlessness. That is the one thing that has changed, and I feel in the upcoming test series, Indian batters will be up for the challenge, and they will be playing spin much better than what the stats actually say. We are one of the best spin playing nations in the whole world right now,” he concluded.
