While it is generally the coaches and the management of a franchise, that is present at the auction, but then as per a report in Cricbuzz, Shreyas Iyer, PBKS skipper is expected to attend the IPL auction 2026 in Abu Dhabi. The event is scheduled to take place on December 16, where as many as 359 players will go under the hammer.

Meanwhile, December 10 was the deadline to name the representatives for the auction, and Punjab have included Shreyas Iyer in that list, who is recovering from a spleen injury as of now. Under the BCCI auction guidelines, a maximum of eight members can be part of the auction table, with six members outside.
It seems that coach Ricky Ponting might not be able to attend the IPL 2026 Auction though, who is contracted with Seven Network in Australia, for a commentary stint for the Ashes. The third match begins on December 17. That said, PBKS don’t have a lot of purchasing left to do anyways; their purse stands at INR 11.5 cr.

On the other hand, Kiwi Daniel Vettori is expected to be at the auction, despite being busy with the Ashes. He happens to be Australia assistant coach as of now, and seems to have taken permission from the Cricket Australia. As for LSG, Tom Moody and Justin Langer are expected to be around.
KKR and CSK will be the biggest buyers at the IPL auction, who have 64 and 43 cr, respectively. Mumbai Indians have the least purse left — only 2.75 cr, since they persisted with their players from IPL 2025.
