IN what can be considered a blow for Team India, vice captain Shubman Gill seems to have picked up a niggle, and has been rested for the 5th IND vs SA T20I in Ahmedabad on Friday. In his place, Sanju Samson was picked to open the innings. Apart from that, two other changes were made in the side. Washington Sundar finally got a chance and was picked in place of chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, while Harshit Rana was excluded, and Jasprit Bumrah was given a game.
No Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson Comes in
As per the BCCI, Gill had sustained an impact injury on his right foot in the nets on December 16 in Lucknow. The condition seemed to be improving, but the selection remained out of question.
After losing the toss, Suryakumar Yadav said, “We were looking to bat first. The wicket looks good, there won’t be dew and we want to put the runs on the board. It almost feels full. Let’s see what we want from this game, yes the series is on the line, but it is about expressing yourself and enjoying the game. Bumrah comes in for Harshit, Washi comes in for Kuldeep and Gill picked up a niggle in Lucknow, so Sanju comes in.”
