The prolific finisher was not retained by the five-time champions and was eventually picked by the Capitals for Rs 90 lakhs. The 21-year-old went on a rampage in the U-23 State A Trophy, where he amassed 728 runs in only six innings, at an average of 242. His consistent performances will not only get a position in DC’s playing XI for IPL 2025, but could also be batting ahead of the likes of Abhishek Porel, Harry Brook, and even Tristan Stubbs.
Rizvi aims to follow MS Dhoni‘s advice and use it to his advantage in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
“Honestly, I didn’t do much for CSK last year, but I am happy with the takeaways from the champion side like CSK. They taught me a lot. I am keen to hit the Delhi Capitals’ nets and perform for them. Delhi has a star-studded side. KL Rahul is there, Faf du Plessis is there. I want to take a lot of tips from KL Rahul regarding my batting. He is a class batter,” Sameer Rizvi said.
