Harshit Rana has rubbished all claims of disharmony inside India’s dressing room. On the eve of the India vs South Africa 2nd ODI, the fast bowler addressed the reports swirling around that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli don’t see eye to eye with head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Harshit Rana praises Rohit-Kohli
The senior pros, who play just ODI cricket for India, returned to the dressing room after one month. With a bank’s worth of experience, Rohit and Kohli have been helping youngsters in the team. Harshit explained that it’s not just the young batters, but they also help bowlers devise strategies.
“It’s a happy dressing room. The presence of Virat Kohli bhai & Rohit Sharma bhai creates a wonderful environment. They always back the youngsters; they always help me and other youngsters with strategies & motivation,” Harshit told reporters in Raipur.
What’s going on in the background?
Further reports suggest that Rohit isn’t pleased with the Chairman of Selectors, Ajit Agarkar, either. The decision to remove him as India’s ODI captain could be the reason behind the disgruntlement. Rohit and Agarkar weren’t talking during the Australia tour, and the same issue persists.
As for Kohli and Gambhir, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent national selector Pragyan Ojha to Raipur to mitigate the situation. It’s speculated that Kohli feels he was forced to retire from Test cricket.
He took an indirect hit at Gambhir when he claimed all of his preparation is mental, after Gambhir had urged the BCCI to make domestic cricket mandatory for centrally contracted players.
