Even though there were concerns over Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s fitness coming into the New Zealand match, he did play finally, but much to the dismay of his fans, he was out early for 15 off 17. On Sunday, on a sluggish Dubai pitch, Rohit started his innings well, despite his calf strain, and pulled Matt Henry for a six and a four.. but that was only short-lived.
Rohit Sharma Continues to Struggle in Champions Trophy
Rohit Sharma was particularly troubled by 6’8 Kyle Jamieson, whose pace on this wicket, just was not good enough, to be pulled. In attempting to do so, he mistimed one, and pulled one straight into the hands of Will Young. That meant India were reduced to 22/2. One of the other important things to note during his innings was, he didn’t look 100% fit. While running a double with Virat Kohli, he looked in discomfort.
IND vs NZ, CT 2025
This Champions Trophy 2025 hasn’t been the best for Rohit, where he has returned with scores of 41, 20 and now 15. In fact, his last big score was against England, where he scored 119 in Cuttack last month. As far as the IND vs NZ match is concerned, India were in deep trouble as Kohli was removed early by Matt Henry, soon after Rohit’s dismissal.
At one stage India were reduced at 30/3. Although India has already qualified for the semis, this match will decide, if they will face Australia or South Africa in the semi-final
