India cricket team captain Rohit Sharma said that the dressing room wasn’t surprised by Virat Kohli’s century against Pakistan in their Champions Trophy clash. The batting maestro sizzled with a 100-run knock off 111 deliveries, taking India across the line in the marquee clash. With the 6-wicket win against Pakistan, the Men in Blue have now sealed their berth in the semi-final of the tournament.
“That is what he is known for”: Rohit on Virat
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Sharma said that batting through a run-chase is what Kohli is known for and what the team has seen over the years. He said that it was good for Virat to finish the game for India, adding that no one sitting in the dressing room was surprised by his century. The ton marked Kohli’s first since 2023.
“He loves representing the country. He wants to be out there playing for the team, doing what he does the best which is to go out there and do what he did today. That’s what he’s known for. Over the years, we’ve seen it with him. People sitting inside the dressing room are not surprised with what he has done. It was good for him to be out there in the middle, finish the game off and then a couple of crucial knocks from the other guys as well,” Rohit Sharma said.
