Ravindra Jadeja has been the least effective with the ball and has quite literally played very little role with the bat since his move to RR

Rajasthan Royals have been unbeaten in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), having secured 4 wins from 4 games played so far. The top-ranked side literally need to make no changes to their playing XI for their next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), but they might be thinking of making one or two amends, based on how players have performed so far. For starters, Ravindra Jadeja has been the least effective with the ball and has quite literally played very little role with the bat, raising questions on his spot in the playing XI.

Ravindra Jadeja as impact player in RR’s bowling line-up?

Ravindra Jadeja, who was traded from CSK to RR along with Sam Curran, has managed to pick just 3 wickets and score 31 runs from 4 matches. In fact, with the ball, he has been used only for 3, 2 and 2 overs while he didn’t bowl in the game against MI. With the bat, he has been least effective as well. After all, RR depend on their top three to do the heavy-lifting for the side.

So, it would make more sense for RR to use Jadeja as an impact sub in their bowling line-up, while a more able batter such as Donovan Ferreira could be placed in the initial XI, should the team bat first.

Mind you, it isn’t like Ferreira has contributed much with the bat either. He has scored just one run in the only game that he got an opportunity to bat in. However, his recent form in other T20 leagues across the globe suggests that he is much better than Jadeja with the bat and hence would be a viable option to have in the batting XI. Since RR usually don’t play with four overseas players in their line-up, it won’t be a tough task for RR to replace Jadeja with Ferreira when bowling, should they opt to do so.

Another option that RR have is to continue with their policy of using Vaibhav Suryavanshi as an impact sub if they bowl first where they could field Jadeja in the playing XI. Then, they could substitute the opener when they bowl to have the southpaw to boost their spin attack along with Ravi Bishnoi.
