Team India has a packed schedule in October. Once the Asia Cup 2025 is completed, the West Indies Tests start in India from the 2nd of the next month, and go on till the 14th. Post that, the ODI series starts in Australia from the 19th and would end a week later. That means the squads would be out soon. But before it is done by the BCCI, it is important to look at the predicted India squad for the AUS ODIs.
Return of Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma
After a wait of six months, the duo of Rohit-Kohli would finally be back in action. They have already retired from the T20Is and Tests, and ODIs is the only format they are active in. AUS ODIs would be their first outing in India colours since the Champions Trophy 2025. Their performance, fitness would give a clear picture, if they would continue till the 2027 World Cup.
Question Marks Over Rishabh Pant’s Fitness
Like is the case in Tests, Rishabh Pant isn’t the first-choice keeper in the format, but KL Rahul is. And with the southpaw still injured, there is no certainty, that he would find a place in the team. Hence, the second keeper’s role would fall in the hands of Dhruv Jurel, who is repeated showing, that he can play aggressive brand of cricket in white-ball formats.
Nod to Mohammed Siraj, Shami Out
One of the bigger changes that one could see in this team is, the comeback of Siraj into the ODI fold. He was not there in the CT 2025, and Shami was drafted in. But increasingly, it is becoming clear that the selectors are ready to look beyond the veteran now. And it goes without saying that Shami was one of the best that world saw, in the format.
Varun Chakravarthy Might Just Miss Out
The mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been excellent ever since he has comeback into the Indian side, even in ODIs. He ended the CT 2025 with 9 wickets, but still might not get a place in the team, simply because of the conditions in Australia. Instead fast-bowling Nitish Kumar Reddy seems like the better choice.
Predicted India Squad for IND vs AUS ODIs
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Dhruv Jurel, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana.
