Sri Lanka cricket team are all set to kick-start their Super 8 campaign of the T20 World Cup 2026 by taking on England in Pallekele on Sunday. However, there is a possible threat of rain playing spoilsport in the contest, which will not augur well with both teams in terms of taking a step closer towards the semi-finals. The game between Pakistan and New Zealand in Colombo was already washed out on Saturday, leading to both teams earning just one point each. A similar result is very much possible on Sunday as well.

As per AccuWeather, there is forecast for rain during the afternoon in Pallekele which coincides with the SL vs ENG clash. Thunderstorms with overcast conditions are expected during the evening, making it even tougher for a contest to take place. There is 74-45% chance of rain during the match. The maximum and minimum tempartures are 26 and 20 degree Celcius respectively.

What happens if SL vs ENG is washed out?

If the Sri Lanka vs England Super 8 tie is washed out, then both teams will have to share points. There is no reserve day in place. It is pertinent to point out that a 5-over game is a must to determine the result of the game.
