The T20 World Cup is often associated with youthful energy, blistering batting and lightning-fast fielding. While the tournament which is currently being played once in every two years, has seen several new performers, but several seasoned cricketers too have defied age and proved that experience can be pivotal in the shortest format. As a result, several editions have seen some players etch their names in record books as they become the oldest to feature in the tournament, continuing their legacy despite crossing 35 and even 40s.
As we look at the list of the oldest players to feature in T20 World Cup history, the 2026 edition also saw a new player break the shackles. Oman’s Aamir Kaleem recently became the oldest player to play T20 World Cup, aged 44 years and 81 days. During Oman’s Group B match against Zimbabwe, Aamir Kaleem broke Hong Kong’s Ryan Campbell’s record by 47 days to become the oldest.
Campbell broke into the record books in the 2016 edition of the T20 World, which was played in India, but his long-standing record was broken by Kaleem. Earlier in the tournament, during Italy’s T20 World Cup 2026 game against Scotland, Wayne Madsen became the seventh oldest (now eighth oldest) player to feature in the T20 World Cup.
