The Pakistan Cricket Board is already embroiled in controversy due to faulty management in hosting the Champions Trophy, which is currently ongoing in Pakistan. Three out of the 11 matches have been abandoned due to unprecedented weather. Now, the Pakistan board has decided to refund the money to fans who purchased tickets for the abandoned matches. However, there is no refund for Afghanistan and Australia fans included in the ticket refunds.
Why no refund for the AFG vs AUS match?
The PCB has decided to issue refunds for matches that were washed out. However, there will be no refund for the Afghanistan vs Australia match, which was abandoned after the second innings had begun, with Australia chasing the target. According to the PCB, refunds will only be given for matches that were washed out before the commencement of the toss. Hence, the fans who went to watch the AFG vs AUS clash in the Gaddafi stadium, will not be eligible for refunds now.
No refunds for elite viewers in Pakistan
PCB has decided not to give any refund to the ticket holders who bought the hospitality ticket, including boxes and PCB gallery. The ticket holders can get a refund on their tickets in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta. The holders can only redeem the refunds after the conclusion of the Champions Trophy between 10 matches 2025 and 14th March 2025.

Why is there a controversy against the PCB for the Champions Trophy?
Many cricket pundits are disappointed with Pakistan’s hosting of the Champions Trophy due to the lack of support systems and infrastructure. On Friday, Australia sailed into the semifinals as their last Group B match against Afghanistan in Lahore was stopped due to rain. The rain began when Australia was chasing the target, and the downpour made the ground so wet that the staff couldn’t get it ready again. Additionally, the ground staff failed to put the rain covers on early, which resulted in the ground getting into poor condition. The lack of a proper drainage system further worsened the situation, making the stadium too wet to complete the crucial clash.
