Mumbai Indians Women have been dealt with a blow amid the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026) as G Kamalini has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament. The wicketkeeper-batter has played in all five matches that MIW have played so far in the league stage. Harmanpreet Kaur and co. have lost Kamalini in a crucial stage of the tournament, with the playoffs berth at stake.
G Kamalini injured
A press release from WPL 2026 stated that Kamalini has been ruled out of the rest of the season due to an injury. No details about the nature of her injury was provided though. The release stated that Mumbai Indians Women have picked Vaishnavi Sharma as her replacement.
“Vaishnavi Sharma will join MI for INR 30 Lakh. The left-arm spinner, who was a member of India’s triumphant ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup squad of 2025, has played 5 T20Is for India, scalping 5 wickets from the same,” the release stated.
Kamalini scored 75 runs in 5 matches with a highest score of 32. Vaishnavi, who made her T20I debut in 2025, will be an additional boost for Harmanpreet and co’s bowling unit.
