The Bengal pace trio has done an incredible job in the fourth round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). Led by Mohammed Shami, the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led side rattled down Jammu and Kashmir to their lowest-ever List-A score.
In the 4th Group B game, Bengal opted to bowl first at the Sanosara Cricket Ground in Rajkot. On a chilly morning, Bengal pacers did their best. Mohammed Shami, who is touted for a Team India comeback, struck in the very second ball of the innings, sending back Qamran Iqbal. Akash Deep struck in his first over as well and the J&K side never recovered.
Mukesh, Akash take 4, while Shami impresses
As mentioned earlier, Shami started the proceedings. He took his second wicket in the form of Yawer Hassan to shock J&K at 6/3. Then came, at first change, Mukesh Kumar, who also struck in his initial overs to send back talented batter Shubman Khajuria. The Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer who took a fifer in the previous game, continued his superb form to take 4/16.
Meanwhile, Akash Deep also recorded a four-wicket haul as Bengal decimated Jammu & Kashmir for just 63 runs. 19-year-old debutant Rohit was handed his debut cap by Anustup Majumdar and Shahbaz Ahmed but he bowling wasn’t used at all as the opponents were rattled inside 20.4 overs. Bengal completed the formality of the run-chase in just 9.3 overs with Abishek Porel scoring a quick 30.
