Vijay Hazare Trophy: Quarterfinals line ups set as league stage ends

In Round 7 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, quarterfinal spots were decided with Mumbai, Karnataka, Delhi and Punjab all qualifying.

Vijay Hazare Trophy LIVE: It was an eventful 7th round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. Mumbai suffered a spectacular collapse to lose to Punjab by just 1 run. Baroda won big but failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. Bengal also bowed out despite their first-choice pace bowling line-up’s presence. Jharkhand suffered a crushing blow as they were thrashed by Tripura by 197 runs.

In the quarterfinals on Jan 12, star-studded Mumbai will take on Karnataka, while unbeaten Uttar Pradesh will face off with Saurashtra. On Jan 13, Delhi will face Vidarbha sans captain Rishabh Pant, who will be unavailable due to national duty. In the last quarterfinal, Punjab will take on Madhya Pradesh.

      Baroda have beaten Chandigarh by 149 runs. However, despite the win, Baroda failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. Vidarbha seal the spot with a 160-run win over Assam. Chandigarh have been bowled out for 242 with Hardik Pandya and Mahesh Pithiya bagging three wickets each.

      Uttar Pradesh have beaten Bengal by 5 wickets. With the loss, Bengal are out of the quarterfinal race. Bengal set a target of 270 which UP chased in 42.2 overs. Dhruv Jurel smashed 123 in the chase.

      Hardik Pandya was not selected for the IND vs NZ ODI series because he did not get clearance from the CoE to bowl 10 overs. However, in the Baroda vs Chandigarh match, Hardik bowled 10 overs for 3 wickets (3/66).

      Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has smashed his second century of the ongoing tournament and this was perhaps one of his best of all time. Maharashtra were 25/5 and soon went 52/6. Gaikwad, however, kept piling on runs against Goa. Vicky Ostwal did his job and added 106 runs for the 7th wicket before Gaikwad completed his century. The Maharashtra captain remained unbeaten at 134* off 131 balls and struck 8 boundaries and 6 sixes in total.

      Delhi eye another easy win as they bundle Haryana out for just 105 runs in Bengaluru. The pace trio of Ishant Sharma, Navdeep Saini and Prince Yadav took three wickets each as no Haryana batter managed to score more than 33 runs. Harsh Tyagi took the remaining wicket. In their run-chase Delhi have lost Priyansh Arya early but Vaibhav Kandpal and Nitish Rana are there to steer towards 106. 
      Rishabh Pant, Tejasvi Singh and Ayush Badoni are still waiting in the wings.

Taranpreet Singh bore the massive brunt as he got hit away for 27 runs in the 25th over. Pandya hit him 3 sixes and 2 fours in 5 balls before dabbing an easy single to complete his fifty! Pandya hammered his maiden List-A century in his previous innings.

      In his usual way, Pandya starts his innings with alpomb, hititng three sixes in the first over he faced. Currently on 22 off 10, Baroda are 151/4, losing Krunal Pandya for 20. Vishnu Solanki made 54 earlier on against Chandigarh.

      Ruturaj Gaikwad's Maharashtra have been blown away by Goa on Thursday morning, as they lost 4 wickets now for just 16 runs. Prithvi Shaw was undone by Arjun Tendulkar, while Vasuki Koushik takes 3. Thankfully for Maharashtra, Gaikwad is still hanging around in Jaipur.

Captain Abhishek Sharma faltered and got out for just 8 runs, while Prabhsimran Singh and Harnoor Singh made 11 and 0, respectively. Onkar Tarmale (2) and Sairaj Patil (1) with the wickets as Mumbai reduced Punjab to 25/3 in 4.1 overs.

      Now, Naman Dhir and Anmolpreet Singh stabilise the innings for the Punjab. Fifty comes up for Punjab.
