Ranji Trophy Live: Sarfaraz Khan gets yet another 100, stumps on day 1

It is stumps on day 1 at all locations and venues across India in this latest Ranji Trophy fixture.

There have been four batters who went on to cross 50 for TN vs Odisha, but none went on to make a big one. And the result is, they are 281/7 for now.

In a poor display of batting, Pondicherry are bundled out for 233 only. Sunil Kumar and Yudhvir Singh end with three wickets each.

MP is decently placed, but the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer (87) and Rajat Patidar (30) could cost them big. Vyshak and Gopal have been bowling well. MP 233/5.

It has not been a good outing for Vidarbha so far. Despite opting to bat first, they have been reduced to 221/6. Yash Rathod is there still, batting on 91.

In a poor display of batting in the absence of some of the big stars, Delhi have been bundled out for only 216 against Chhattisgarh. Ayush Doseja ends with 104 not out.

Sarfaraz Khan the run machine has done it again for Mumbai. He has struck another 100, as Mumbai move to 264/3 now.

After opting to bowl, UP have been rathe poor in their efforts as Jharkhad is batting them out of the match. They have reached 211/1 now.

Two good sessions end for J&K, and have reduced Pondicherry to 180/6. By the end of the day, they would want to bat for sure.

Goa have been poor in this first innings, where they are 192/9. Maharashtra spinner Jalaj Saxena has picked up 6 wickets already and is looking for his 7th.

Mumbai has started well against Hyderabad here. They are 200/3 at the moment and looks like Sarfaraz Khan will score yet another ton. He is batting on 82.

This is not great going for Punjab and Gill. As a skipper he had added responsibility, but he failed to deliver.

The pitch in Rajkot has certainly favoured bowlers as we have seen 15 wickets go down in 2 sessions. 
Punjab go from 50/1 to 73/5 in no time as Shubman Gill and Harnoor Singh have been dismissed for ducks. Prabhsimran failed to get his fifty. Punjab still trail by 98 runs as Saurashtra eye first innings lead.

🚨Duck for Captain Gill 

In a huge news, Shubman Gill has been dismissed for a two-ball duck! Parth Bhute with a huge wicket as he gets him LBW to spoil Gill's return in Rajkot. 

Punjab are two down but Shubman Gill has demoted himself. Nehal Wadhera is the one who has entered at number four after Uday got out for 23 runs. Prabhsimran Singh is getting closer to 50. Punjab's trail is now under 100.

A superb opening partnership between Sharandeep Singh and Shikhar Mohan has finally come to an end as Vipraj Nigam strikes to dismiss Mohan at 78. Sharandeep is looking strong at 62. Aaryaman Sen joins Singh at the crease.

Punjab have skittled Saurashtra out for just 172 runs, with Harpreet Brar taking six wickets to his name, his career-best figures in FC cricket. 

Now, in reply, Punjab have already lost one wicket in the form of Harnoor Singh for a duck. Jaydev Unadkat with the wicket as Uday Saharan (11*) has joined Prabhsimran Singh (14*) at the crease. Shubman Gill will bat at number four, his usual Test spot too. His chance to bat may come sooner rather than later. 

PUN: 24/1 (6 overs). PUN trail by 147 runs. 

Shubman Gill's Punjab have been quite dominant against Saurashtra. Within 42 overs, Saurashtra have lost 8 wickets. Jay Gohil is going alone and is unbeaten at 76 but he is running out of partners. PBKS bowler Harpeet Brar has picked up four wickets so far and Jass Inder has two. We will definitely see Shubman Gill bat today itself, as Saurashtra are 157/8. 

In the Hyderabad vs Mumbai game, Mohammed Siraj finally struck before the lunch break as he dismissed Akash Anand (35). Rohit Rayudu picked up the other wicket. Mumbai captain Siddhesh Lad and Musheer Khan are at the crease at the moment.

Recently crowned Vijay Hazare Trophy champions Vidarbha are in massive trouble against Andhra Pradesh. After opting to bat first, they go from 29/0 to 45/4 in no time. Former MI pacer S Raju has picked up all four wickets as he wreaks havoc. 

Aman Mokhade (21) and Atharva Taide (13) failed to convert starts, while youngster Danish Malewar got out for a duck. Samarth R also disappointed. Yash Rathod and Rohit Binkar are at the crease now. Nitish Kumar Reddy has bowled 2 maidens after bowling four overs so far.

Meanwhile, just like Saurashtra, Delhi have also lost 4 wickets! After Arya and Kandpal's dismissals, captain Ayush Badoni got run out, while Sanat Sangwan was deemed LBW by Ashish Choauhan. Youngster Ayush Doseja and Sumit Mathur at crease now.

The morning session of Day 1 has belonged to Shubman Gill's Punjab. Saurashtra's choice to bat first has backfired as they lose 4 wickets inside 17 overs. All the veterans, including Harvik Desai, Chirag Jani, Ajay Vasavada and Ravindra Jadeja, are back in the pavilion. Jadeja has been dismissed for 7 off 6 balls as Jass Inder gets him with Harpreet Brar taking his catch. 

SAU: 70/4 after 17 overs. 

Punjab have taken an early breakthrough in the form of Chirag Jani (8) as Sanvir Singh picks up the wicket. Jay Gohil now joins Harvik Desai on the crease. 

SAU: 24/1 after 6.4 overs.

Meanwhile, Delhi have also lost Priyansh Arya (9) early. Dev Aditya Singh with the wicket. Then, Sanat Sangwan was joined by Vaibhav Kandpal, who has also been dismissed for just 4 off 8 balls. Dev with the second wicket as Delhi get rocked early.

Another superb game on the cards is Karnataka vs Madhya Pradesh, with both teams eyeing the knockout spot. Rajat Patidar has won the toss and has elected to bat first. 

Another huge name that is in action today is Mohammed Siraj, who leads Hyderabad against Mumbai. Mumbai have been put to bat first by Siraj, who won the toss for Hyderabad. 

Delhi, who are all but ruled out of the tournament, eye some momentum to finish the disappointing campaign. Ayush Badoni, who was part of India's ODI series against New Zealand, returns to lead the side, while eyes will be on Priyansh Arya as well. Delhi opted to bat first in this game at BCCI CoE, Bengaluru. 

In the much-awaited Punjab vs Saurashtra game, which is being played in Rajkot, Jaydev Unadkat has won the toss and has elected to bat first. Gill lost the toss in the Ranji Trophy as well.
