Shimron Hetmyer slams his sixth six as he reaches his half-century in style. He has taken just 22 balls to breach the fifty-run mark and is looking unstoppable.

Shimron Hetmyer is being relentless as he is dealing in sixes at the moment. Two back to back sixes in the 12th over takes West Indies closer to the 100-run mark. He is batting with a strike rate of over 210.

Davidson strikes on his debut as he gets rid of the dangerous Brandon King. Munsey takes an easy catch to send the Windies batter packing for 35 runs. Scotland have struck twice in quick succession

Leask gets the breakthrough for Scotland as he gets rid of Shai Hope. The West Indies opener departs after his 22-ball 19-run knock.

Brandon King has decided that he has had enough and goes after Sharif right after the powerplay. He starts the over with a towering six and then slams a couple of back to back boundaries. 17 runs come from that over. And with that, West Indies reach the 50-run mark

The powerplay phase is done and Scotland have done very well to contain the West Indies batters. Hope and King didn't manage to score a single six when the field restrictions were in place.

West Indies have managed to get a boundary in every over bowled so far. However, the trademark six hasn't been hit yet. Regardless, a good start for Windies as they reach 27/0 at the end of 4 overs.

Shai Hope and Brandon King haven't gone berserk yet and are taking their time to settle down in the middle. Currie and McCullen are still hunting for the first wicket

Brandon King and Shai Hope are out in the middle to commence the proceedings for West Indies. The duo will be aiming to get off to an explosive start and dominate the powerplay. Scotland captain Richie Berrington has won the toss and has opted to bowl first in their T20 World Cup 2026 opener against West Indies. Scotland entered the tournament in the last minute after Bangladesh were replaced by the ICC

Pakistan's ploy of playing an extra all-rounder does the work as they clinch the opening game by 3 wickets. 

Pakistan had a superb start to the run-chase as Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan delivered up top. Then came a collapse from Pakistan as they lost 5 wickets within just 15 runs. The Dutch had a major comeback in the game but a dropped catch from Max O'Dowd gave the impetus Pakistan needed. Faheem was batting at 7 then. He then went onto hit 29* off 11, completing the run-chase in 19.3 overs.

A much-needed six from Faheem Ashraf here in the first ball of the penultimate over. He has the luck on his side as well, as Max O'Dowd drops a simple catch on the very next ball. It is all happening here in Colombo. Scott Edwards is unhappy, as he should be. 

To add salt to the wounds, Faheem Ashraf hit another six on the very next ball. He has changed the game in 3 balls. Guess what happens next? Another SIX. Incredible hitting from Ashraf. He has smoked 21 off 8 balls. 

Pakistan need 5 off 6 balls. Logan van Beek leaked 24 runs in the 19th over. 

After Nawaz, the Netherlands see the back of Shadab Khan as well, with the Dutch picking up the 7th wicket. A superb wicket for Logan van Beek as he gets a faint edge off Shadab (8 off 12). 

Pakistan now need 33 off last 18 balls. Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi in the middle.

Pakistan are feeling the heat! Poor cricket from Pakistan here, as they now lose 6 wickets. There are no demons in this Colombo wicket. Yet, Pakistan are choking in their modest 148-run chase. With the uncertainty around the PAK vs IND fixture, it is a must-win for Pakistan. 

Mohammad Nawaz, who was having a great match with the ball, frustrated under pressure and he skied one straight to the keeper, bowing out for 6 off 13. Faheem Ashraf is the new batter in. 

🤯Babar Azam OUT

Pakistan, what are you doing here? From 98/2, Pakistan have been reduced to 100/5. Yeah, you read that right. Pakistan lose Farhan, Usman Khan and Babar Azam in a span of 2 runs. 

Van der Merwe was giving singles and wasn't as threatening as Pakistani spinners were. Pakistan were getting runs off the other bowlers. Still Babar Azam, batting on 15 off 17, went for a wild hoick. Babar gifts his wicket in the most untimely manner. The Netherlands are cock-a-hoop, as they should be. 

What Pakistan can rely on is the fact that they bat deep today, with Faheem Ashraf slated to bat at no. 8. 

Pakistan now need 42 off 38 runs with 5 wickets in hand.

This match has seen some incredible catches, and there comes another one, this time by veteran Roelof van der Merwe. Sahibzada Farhan sliced one as he failed to keep the extra bounce of Paul van Meekeren down. The ball went straigt to long on fielder, denying Farhan his 50. He goes for 47 off 31.

Soon, Meekeren converted it to a double-wicket maiden as he got rid of Usman Khan as well, who got chopped on for a duck! Certainly Netherlands have opened a window from here. Anything can happen. 

Sahibzada Farhan is picking up pace here and he is dominating the Dutch pacers. His batting has grown exponentially recently. His strike rate of 170 in this game is giving Pakistan an amazing edge so far.

An expensive over by Aaryan Dutt but a successful one! The first four balls went for 15 runs but another shot accounted for the wicket for Salman Ali Agha!

This is the bowling scorecard for Pakistan. Shaheen Afridi failed to bowl according to the pace of the pitch as Salman Mirza clearly outbowled him. He mixed his pace superbly. Nawaz was lucky with one wicket while Abrar was expectedly good. Saim Ayub rolled his arm over for one over and he picked 2 wickets there!

Netherlands progression:

The Netherlands were 127/4 at one point. They eyed 160+ and that surely would've put Pakistan under the pump. But as associate nations often do, they failed to seize the chance. Pakistan, on the back of strong spinners, waved their way into the game. Scott Edwards lost his wicket untimely. Levitt was out after Babar and Shaheen Afridi partnered for a superb catch together.

A mistake by Dutch captain Scott Edwards here as he spoons one straight to fine leg off Abrar Ahmed. Edwards goes for 37 off 29 and he was looking great until playing an unnecessary shot despite a fielder being stationed there. 

Pakistan have taken some time but they now know that slow spin is the way to go here. Superb captaincy to bring in Saim Ayub's off-spin in the 17th over and he gets Loga van Beek with a soft dismissal. Soon, Lion-Cachet also heads back with a nothing loft. Netherlands are undoing their great start here. Pakistan surely on top.

Abrar Ahmed will be the X-factor for Pakistan not just in this game but in the entire T20 World Cup 2026. Now, it would be interesting if the Dutch can play him. 

Well, Abrar gets the wicket in his first over. He keeps the batter guessing, sending back Ackermann for 20. Another timely wicket for Pakistan as Abrar takes 1/7 after his opening over. Captain Scott Edwards has come in at No. 5. Crucial middle overs phase this.

An early catch of the tournament contender this 😍. Nawaz pitched it up and Levitt eyed to continue his fiery start against Pakistan. He smashed down the ground and Babar ran straighter from the long-off area. It was difficult to get hold of it but Babar does and sends it back towards Shaheen Afridi before going over the ropes. A no-look throw and Afridi does the rest. 

Superb effort for Pakistan, who have made their statement in the game after two incredible catches. You don't see this often! Colin Ackermann is the new batter in.

O'Dowd OUT 

Here comes the first wicket of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026! Salman Mirza has definitely outbowled Shaheen Afridi here and he picks up the first wicket in the form of Max O'Dowd (5). An off-cutter and Usman Khan runs towards square leg to pick a superb diving catch. Matthew Hayden loves the catch as well from the com box. Bas de Leede is the new batter in.
