Domestic career

Saim Ayub started playing cricket at a young age. He started his journey by playing tape ball cricket in the Gulistan-e-Johar area in Karachi.

In the 2021 PSL, Saim played for Quetta Gladiators but didn’t secure a regular spot in the playing XI. After that, he made his List A debut for Sindh in the 2021–22 Pakistan Cup.

Saim showed his class during the 2023 PSL Season. While playing for Peshawar Zalmi he scored his maiden PSL half-century off 33 deliveries. Saim Ayub finished the 2023 PSL season with 341 runs, with an average of 28.41 and a strike rate of 165.53 across 12 matches.

International career

Due to his performance in the 2023 PSL, he was included in the Pakistani squad alongside youngsters like Ihsanullah, and Haseebullah Khan for the T20 series against Afghanistan. He made his T20I debut for Pakistan against Afghanistan on March 24, 2023, under Shadab Khan’s Captaincy.

In November 2023, he was named to the Pakistani Squad for the Test series against Australia. He made his test debut against Australia on 3 January 2024. Saim Ayub is yet to make his debut in the 50-over format.
