'King is dead': India won't miss Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma in IND vs PAK game at Asia Cup

Former Indian cricketers have claimed that India won't miss Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the IND vs PAK tie at Asia Cup 2025

Former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan has claimed that even India B can defeat the current Pakistan cricket team. His remarks come ahead of the high-octane IND vs PAK contest at the Asia Cup scheduled to be held on September 14. Wassan said that Pakistan were once a formidable side and that it had changed now, given how the current team was performing.

Ro-Ko won’t be missed in IND vs PAK?

In an interaction with CNN-News18, Wassan claimed that he won’t miss Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma in the IND vs PAK contest. He reckoned that the tides have changed and claimed that even India’s B team could defeat a hapless Pakistan at this point of time. Rohit and Virat were a part of the team when India and Pakistan last clashed with each other in the T20 World Cup 2024.

I will not miss Rohit and Virat because then I will start missing Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev also. The king is dead, long live the king. Things move, new superstars come in, and this embarrassment of riches, and I feel sorry for the selectors because to keep everyone in the mix because who’s to drop and who’s to pick,” said Wassan

Former Indian spinner Piyush Chawla lauded India’s depth in the white-ball formats. He noted that India have fared very well in T2OIs following the departure of Rohit and Virat. The duo announced their retirement from the format following India’s T20 World Cup win.

If you look at the current Indian team, the amount of games that they have won post the Rohit and Kohli era in T20 cricket, they are doing a wonderful job. Somebody like Arshdeep is not getting a chance in the playing XI, being in the top five of world T20 bowlers. I think this team looks really set, and you always miss these kinds of players,” Chawla said.
