India women’s cricket team have decided to make one change to their playing XI in the game against England in the Women’s World Cup 2025. Having started their campaign with two consecutive wins, Harmanpreet Kaur and co. have been forced to reconsider their team combination. Jemimah Rodrigues has been benched for the INDW vs ENGW tie while Renuka Thakur has been drafted into the playing XI.

Speaking at the toss, captain Harmanpreet revealed that Renuka was added to the playing XI due to her record against England Women. The bowler has taken 8 wickets in the 2 WODIs she has played against England so far and averages 10.75. She has played just one game so far in the World Cup – against Sri Lanka on October 5 where she went wicketless.
“Jemi is not playing today and Renuka is playing. She has a great record against England and that was the biggest reason we wanted her back in the side,” Harmanpreet Kaur said at the toss.
Meanwhile, Jemimah has been rather out of touch in the ongoing tournament. She registered two ducks in the 4 games she featured in while managing to score 32 and 34 runs in the other games.
The game against England Women is a must-win for India in order to keep their hopes of making it to the semi-finals alive.
