India cricket team might be facing some potential injuries leading up to the IND vs ENG 4th Test at Manchester. While there is the need to manage the workload management of stars like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, there are also some concerns that need to be addressed when it comes to players like Akash Deep and Rishabh Pant. Ahead of the 4th Test, we provide a status update on every player who could possibly be impacted for the next game.
1. Jasprit Bumrah
As per India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, Bumrah is all set to play in the IND vs ENG 4th Test in Manchester as the series is currently poised in favour of England 2-1. Although the pacer had previously decided that he would only play in 3 Tests, he will now have to surely take part in the next game in order to allow India to take a lead in the series. Despite having to manage his workload, India have no option but to play Bumrah in the next 2 Tests if they fancy a chance of winning the series.
2. Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is still not cleared to take part in the IND vs ENG 4th Test. The southpaw was hit on his index finger on the left hand while he was fielding in the 1st innings of the 3rd Test. He was then replaced by Dhruv Jurel for the remainder of the match behind the stumps. Assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate indicated on Thursday, that Rishabh Pant is likely to be fit in time for the 4th Test, but whether he’ll keep wickets, is a question to be answered later.
3. Akash Deep
Akash Deep suffered an injury scare on Day 4 of IND vs ENG 3rd Test at Lord’s, as he limped off the field. The pacer turned out to be India’s difference maker in the 2nd Test where he led the team to a historic win following which he delivered an impactful performance in the 3rd Test as well.
4. Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh suffered an injury during training ahead of IND vs ENG 4th Test, while stopping a ball. It was confirmed by assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate, and the bowler’s hand was later strapped with a bandage.
“He took a ball, while he was bowling there, the side of the ball; he tried to stop the ball. It’s just a cut, so we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team is taking him to see a doctor and if he needs stitches, that is going to be important to our planning for the next few days,” Ryan ten Doeschate said.
