West Indies ended Day 3 on 173/2 in their second innings, still trailing by 97 runs.

An inspired batting performance from West Indies saw them take the game to day 4 in the IND vs WI 2nd Test. The visitors put in their best batting performance of the series, helping themselves to 173/2. Shai Hope and John Campbell remained unbeaten at Stumps, in an excellent 138-run partnership.

Earlier, West Indies resumed at 140/4 but Kuldeep Yadav ran through the batting line up. The left arm spinner picked up a 5-wicket haul to bundle WI for 248. Instead of batting, Shubman Gill enforced a follow on in Delhi. Here are the IND vs WI Highlights from Day 3:

Kuldeep Yadav shines again

Kuldeep Yadav continued his good form with yet another masterclass on Sunday. Yadav had dismissed Alick Athanaze on Day 2 and proceeded to run through the middle order.Kuldeep dismissed the well set pair of Shai Hope and Tevin Imlach. He later added Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales to complete a well deserved fifer. It was his 5th fifer in Test cricket, the most by a left arm wrist spinner.

India enforce follow on – Gill’s confusing tactics

Indja enforced follow on after grabbing a 270-run lead. On a hot day in Delhi, Gill decided to keep his bowlers in the field than offer them rest and allow the batsmen to further swelling their advantage. It was a bizzare move that allowed West Indies a foot back into the contest. The visitors batted well later in the day against a tired Indian attack, leaving only 97 as trail.

No bowling for Nitish Kumar Reddy

India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had emphasized on the need to develop a pace bowling all rounder. He had backed Nitish Reddy to do the job and the SRH star kept his place in the side. While he was promoted to 5 in the batting order, he hasn’t bowled yet in this Test. India have sent down 131 overs this Test, but Nitish hasn’t yet been trusted with the ball. The conditions don’t suit pace bowling but to play an all rounder for development and not give him overs would be counter productive.
