Sahibzada Farhan raced to a 34-ball half-century against India in the final of the Asia Cup 2025 as his fine form continued. The knock marked his second back-to-back fifty against the Men in Blue in the ongoing tournament. However, unlike in the Super Fours contest, Farhan did not repeat the ‘gun’ celebration, especially since he was reprimanded by the ICC.
Farhan slams fifty again vs India in Asia Cup
Farhan once again punished the Indian bowlers in the powerplay as he wreaked havoc on the opposition. He struck five fours and three sixes en route to his half-century. After completing two runs to reach the fifty, he simply raised his bat towards the Pakistan dug out in acknowledgement instead of getting into trouble again with a celebration.
Farhan’s stay out in the middle did not last for long after his fifty. Varun Chakravarthy finally got the first breakthrough for India as the Pakistan opener was caught out by Tilak Varma for 57 runs. Nevertheless, the damage had already been done by him.
Sahibzada’s onslaught against Bumrah persisted in the Asia Cup final as well, as he slammed the Indian pacer for two fours and one six in his two overs in the powerplay. Overall, Bumrah bowled just two overs in the first six overs and conceded 18 runs while going wicketless. He also became the first batter to slam Bumrah for 3 sixes in T20Is so far. He also became the third Pakistan batter to score most fifties against India in T20Is.
In the previous IND vs PAK game, Farhan had slammed a 35-ball fifty after being dropped on zero by Abhishek Sharma. In that game, he had scored 18 runs off Bumrah’s two overs, four less than what he scored on Sunday in the Asia Cup 2025 final. Prior to the September 21 game, Farhan had registered scores of 29 against Oman, 40 against India and 5 against UAE.
India won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Dubai International stadium. They made 3 changes to their playing XI.
