The Indian squad for the Australia ODIs was announced long back, and it is now the question of, what playing XI does Shubman Gill go with? Aakash Chopra simplified the playing XI for the IND vs AUS 1st ODI in Perth. He started with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as the two openers, followed by Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer at 3 and 4. KL Rahul came in at 5, and 6 was a surprise entry of Nitish Kumar Reddy, who replaces injured Hardik Pandya.
No Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana finds a spot
He went ahead with two more all-rounders in Axar Patel and Washington Sundar, That effectively meant that Kuldeep Yadav didn’t make it to the XI, as per Chopra. He then finished the team with three pacers — Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh.
Recently, there was a controversy around the selection of Rana in all the three formats, with Gautam Gambhir responding to the critics. He went on to say that the 23-year-old should not be trolled.
