The ICC on Thursday announced the venues for the warm up matches, for the Women’s T20 World Cup in England, starting in Birmingham on June 12, 2026. Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens, Derby County Ground, and Loughborough University were picked at the three venues for those fixture.
Three Venues Named for Warm-ups
Though the schedule for the warm-up fixtures is yet to be announced, the venues were zeroed in, already. Meanwhile, 8 of the 12 teams have been finalised, who will play the Women’s T20 World Cup next year, in Wales and England. The final four teams will be decided through a round of qualifiers.
As far as the entire tournament is concerned, the 12-side event will be played across 24 days and 33 matches, and the final will take place at Lord’s on July 5. The groups have been decided too. In Group 1, Australia are in presence of South Africa, India and Pakistan, along with two qualifiers.
ICC Women’s World Cup Starts on June 12
The other group will have hosts England, defending champions New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and the two global qualifiers. The venues used for the main matches will be, Edgbaston, Hamshire Bowl, Headingley, Old Trafford, The Oval, Bristol County Ground, and the Lord’s.
This time around, there could be a few new contenders who could emerge as potential victors. Team India, who are always there, and there abouts, will have a great chance to lift their maiden WC trophy. Just recently, they beat a full strength England team in a five-match T20I series, that too without its main pacers — Renuka Thakur and Pooja Vastrakar.
