It’s official. Bangladesh won’t participate in the T20 World Cup 2026. Following their refusal to travel to India, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has replaced them with Scotland in Group C. According to Cricbuzz, the ICC has written to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), informing them about the decision.
Earlier today, it came out that ICC Chairman Jay Shah will announce the final decision by the end of the day. And that’s exactly what has happened.

Two days ago, the ICC had given the BCB a 24-hour ultimatum to reconsider its stance. After holding discussions with the Bangladesh government, the BCB decided that their players would not be safe in India and refused to change their demand for relocation.
Yesterday, the BCB had approached the ICC’s independent Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) in hopes of their matches getting rescheduled out of India to Sri Lanka. The move didn’t work. The ICC remained unmoved. Bangladesh has to either play the T20 World Cup in India or withdraw from the tournament.
Although ICC hadn’t confirmed it, reports had suggested that Scotland would replace Bangladesh in case they withdrew from the T20 World Cup. That turns out to be correct. Scotland will face Italy, Nepal, England, and the West Indies in Group C. The schedule will remain the same.
