India cricket team star Virat Kohli has once again proved that he is a crowd puller and has been dubbed as one of the main reasons as to why tickets for the IND vs SA 3rd ODI in Visakhapatnam are sold out. The former Indian captain is in red-hot form and has smashed two back-to-back hundreds in Ranchi and Raipur. With India set to take on South Africa in the series-deciding 3rd ODI on Saturday, the ACA is more than happy as the YS Rajasekhara Reddy ADA-VDCA stadium is set to be fully packed.
Tickets for IND vs SA 3rd ODI sold out in minutes after Kohli’s 100
As per The Indian Express, sale of tickets was pretty slow for a couple of days after the first phase went live on November 28. However, after Kohli’s hundred in Ranchi in the IND vs SA 1st ODI, tickets were sold out in minutes as the sale went online on December 1 and 3. No more tickets are left for the IND vs SA 3rd ODI as fans bought tickets whose price range was from Rs 1200 to Rs 18,000.
“The first phase of tickets went on sale on November 28. The response wasn’t good. But a day before the second phase went on sale, Kohli scored that hundred at Ranchi. That changed everything. All of us know he has an outstanding record here… so when the second and third phase tickets went online, they vanished in minutes,” Andhra Cricket Association’s Media and Operations team member Y Venkatesh told the publication.
Team India was poor in the second ODI, where they ended up scoring 358 and yet lost the match rather comfortably. Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored tons, while Rahul chipped in with a fifty, but it was the bowlers who couldn’t complete their job.
As far as the first match is concerned, India had won that by 17 runs — after the hosts had gone on to score 349. South Africa managed 332 in reply. In that encounter as well, Kohli had scored 135.
