The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) created history on Wednesday, shattering the 13-year-long record of smashing the highest score in IPL history. The Orange Army bludgeoned the entire Mumbai Indians (MI) bowling attack and mustered 277 in Match 8 of IPL 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
It all started with Travis Head, who hammered 62 runs in just 24 balls. Playing his first game for the franchise, the Australian opener smoked nine fours and three sixes.
Youngster Abhishek Sharma struck at an insane strike rate of 273.91, making a 16-ball half-century. After MI got rid of the two left-handers, it was a superb show put up by Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram. The two South Africans stitched up a 116-run stand in just 54 balls.
Kwena Maphaka, who was handed his debut early on, had a forgettable game as he became the bowler with the most expensive spell for MI, leaking 66 runs in his four overs.
