The Indian cricket team recently defended the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 title and there seems to be joy about the same across the country. But some of the viral clips seemed to have welcomed some trouble for the Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The Indian all-rounder has found himself in hot soup after a complaint was filed against him for allegedly insulting the Indian flag during T20 WC celebrations with his girlfriend, Mahieka Sharma, in Ahmedabad.
The complaint has been filed by a Pune-based lawyer, Advocate Wajid Khan, who claimed that the 32-year-old was wrapped in the national flag and made some obscene gestures during the celebrations. Speaking to ANI, Khan said, “You must have seen the T20 World Cup here. Hardik Pandya was dancing with his girlfriend in celebration of his victory. The national flag was tied to his back… .”
Wajid Khan further stated, “According to Section 2 of the 1971 National Flag Act, we should respect the dignity of the national flag. However, Hardik Pandya was so lost in the celebration of his victory that he was lying with his girlfriend, wearing the national flag… I believe it is an insult to the national flag.”
Hardik Pandya’s celebrations grab eyeballs
Pandya, who played a significant role in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 victory, picking nine wickets and scoring crucial runs, including two fifty-plus scores, was seen sharing special moments with his girlfriend, Mahieka Sharma. While the two have been spotted together on several occasions now, the most talked-about couple were also seen enjoying dancing after the victory.
In one of the videos, while the setup was being done for the presentation ceremony, Hardik Pandya was seen lying on the stage with Mahieka Sharma before he once again danced with Ishan Kishan and his rumoured girlfriend on the sidelines.
