SRH pacer Simarjeet Singh created history of sorts when he became the most expensive player sold in DPL. He was bagged for INR 39 lakh by Central Delhi Kings in the auction in July, and the purchase has been totally worth it. The 27-year-old has been impressive with 11 wickets in 7 matches, where he averages only 20.

In an exclusive interview with InsideSport, Simarjeet Singh went on to reveal that the price tag hardly makes a difference to the player, and he is on the lookout to improve his skills — be it pace or control. “There is no pressure as such, you’re just playing for your team. Whenever you play cricket, you want to do your best. The more you can contribute for the team.. the entire focus is there only,” the pacer said.
Simarjeet can bowl fast, hits 140 kmph rather consistently, but then his focus is not just that. To become a complete bowler, he looks up to seniors like Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins, and wants to better all skills. “It would be wrong to pick one (between control and speed), you always want to improve all around.

“To become a complete bowler, you ought to have both. So that is what I strive to do, give my best in all the bowling departments. I also try to learn new things, or even develop. I ask other bowlers too for help. There are so many players in IPL, who teach you well, Bumrah and Cummins are there too.”
Simarjeet’s excellent showing also means that the Central Delhi Kings are in the second position in the points table of DPL 2025, and a win would take them at the top. They have the best NRR of +2.099.
