After a close Test series vs India, England will focus on white-ball cricket for a while, before starting their preparations for the Ashes. On Friday, the ECB named England squads for the South Africa ODI and T20I series, followed by T20I series vs Ireland. Apart from the usual suspects, it was all-rounder Rehan Ahmed who was picked for the ODIs after a gap of two years, while pacer Sonny Baker earned his maiden call-up to the national side.
Harry Brook to Lead vs South Africa
Pace sensation Jofra Archer, who made his Test comeback, against India after a gap of four years also retained his place. As far as the T20I team for SA is concerned, Luke Wood and Liam Dawson were also picked. Meanwhile, skipper Harry Brook is rested for the T20I series vs Ireland, and Jacob Bethell is picked as the skipper.
This side also sees the inclusion of left-arm spinner Tom Hartley, along with Matthew Potts. For the Ireland series, Marcus Trescothick will take over as the coach of the side.
