India’s forgetful day in Guwahati
The second day of the Guwahati Test was rather uneventful, that is, from an Indian perspective. Senuran Muthusamy scored his maiden hundred, while Marco Jansen fell just 7 short of his maiden ton. Rishabh Pant scolded Kuldeep Yadav for falling behind on the over rate, showing signs of frustration. After the day’s play, Kuldeep described the pitch as a road.

India to declare early?
Ravi Shastri has suggested Rishabh Pant and Gautam Gambhir declare India’s first innings when they are behind by 80-100 runs, if they want to win the Guwahati Test. The former India head coach thinks that if India wants to win, they have to force a result by putting South Africa in early and chasing down the target.

Prithvi Shaw becomes captain
Prithvi Shaw is all set to be named Maharashtra’s captain for the 2025-26 SMAT. After Ruturaj Gaikwad, Maharashtra’s regular skipper, received a call-up for India’s ODI series against South Africa, Prithvi will lead the team on an interim basis. MCA hadn’t named a vice-captain when the squad was announced.
