Kohli’s day out in Ranchi
Virat Kohli registered a record 52nd ODI hundred, the most by a batter in any format, in Ranchi. His spin play was particularly impressive. After his 135-run knock, Dale Steyn revealed that Kohli practices 4 times a week in two stadiums in London. After winning the POTM award, Kohli was asked whether he would unretire from Test cricket, as India suffered another home whitewash. The veteran confirmed that he’ll play only ODI cricket until the end of his career.
BCCI questions Gambhir & Agarkar
Unsatisfied with India’s Test returns, the BCCI will hold a meeting involving all stakeholders. Secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Prabhtej Bhatia, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar are all expected to be present. After his half-century in the Ranchi ODI, Rohit Sharma has become the batter with the most ODI sixes. The former India captain struck three maximums against South Africa and overtook Shahid Afridi’s 351 tally. Rohit also moved to 10th place on the list of batters with the most 50+ scores in ODI cricket.

Hundreds galore in SMAT
Abhishek Sharma has scored the third fastest hundred by an Indian in T20 cricket. Opening for Punjab against Bengal, Abhishek reached triple figures in just 32 balls. His final score was 148 (52), and the team finished with 310. Apart from Abhishek, Ishan Kishan also scored a hundred against Tripura. Sanju Samson was among the runs as well.
Russell becomes IPL coach
It turns out that KKR didn’t release Andre Russell. The reason why the West Indian T20 legend wasn’t retained was that he’d decided to retire from IPL, making the announcement official now. Russell hasn’t played for any other team since his debut in 2014 and will remain with KKR as their ‘Power Coach’ for IPL 2026.
Gaikwad played over Pant
In a fascinating move, India didn’t play Tilak Varma or Rishabh Pant. After losing the toss, KL Rahul revealed that Ruturaj Gaikwad would bat at number four, Shreyas Iyer’s spot. The move was surprising since Gaikwad is an opener, and Rahul had confirmed that Pant would play on the eve of the match.
