Australia cricket team may be handed a huge blow as Josh Hazlewood is unlikely to be available for the remainder of the Ashes. The veteran pacer missed the AUS vs ENG 1st Test after sustaining a hamstring injury a couple of weeks ago during a Sheffield Shield game against Victoria. While Australia will benefit from the return of captain Pat Cummins in the 2nd Test, they will surely be impacted by Hazlewood’s absence.

Hazlewood to miss Ashes completely?

As per journalist Peter Lalor, Hazlewood’s injury might be more serious than expected and he could miss the remainder of the Ashes. Despite the absence of the pacer, Australia clinched a convincing 8-wicket win in the 1st Ashes Test in the two-day contest, with Boland and Starc emerging as the pick of the bowlers. To date, Hazlewood has 295 Test wickets and averages 24.21 with the ball in the longest format of the game.

If these whispers I’m hearing about Hazlewood are right, we’re not gonna see him again for the rest of the series if the worst comes to fruition,” Lalor stated while speaking on Cricket 7.

Hazlewood was initially cleared of major damage after scans during New South Wales’ Shield fixture in Melbourne, which briefly raised hopes that he would pull up in time.

But the veteran quick reported lingering tightness across the next 48 hours, and Cricket Australia’s (CA) medical team advised a more cautious approach. Their statement made it clear that early scans can sometimes mask low-grade muscle damage, which forced them to rule him out before the squad travels to Perth.
