Bangladesh are slated to play their first three group stage fixtures in Kolkata and last one in Mumbai.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has categorically denied receiving any communique from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the relocation of Bangladesh’s matches in the T20 World Cup 2026.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has written to the ICC, urging them to move Bangladesh’s group-stage games out of India. BCB didn’t get any reply from the ICC and had to send another email to them. Reports suggested that ICC isn’t satisfied with BCB’s reasoning, citing security concerns as the reason for pulling out of India.

No venue changes for Bangladesh

Earlier today, another report emerged. It stated that ICC and BCCI are looking at relocating Bangladesh’s matches from Kolkata and Mumbai. But not outside of India. Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram emerge as the replacement venues. With the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) ready to host games.

However, BCCI has denied moving Bangladesh’s matches. Secretary Devajit Saikia has clearly stated that ICC hasn’t formally informed them to change venues.

“The BCCI has not received any communication regarding the matter of shifting Bangladesh matches to Chennai or anywhere else, and it is beyond our control. It is a matter of communication between the BCB and the ICC, as the ICC is the governing body. If the ICC conveys any decision to us regarding a change of venue, the BCCI, as the host, will take the necessary steps. At present, we are not privy to any such information,” Saikia told IANS.
