IN what comes as a bad news for hosts Australia, their premier fast bowler Josh Hazlewood could be ruled out of the entire Ashes 2025-26 series. As per ESPNCricinfo, he seems to have developed an Achilles soreness, while completing a rehab for a hamstring injury.

Fresh injury woes for Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood was due to join the Australian team ahead of the Brisbane Test, but that plan is off for now. “Josh Hazlewood reported achilles soreness this week during his rehabilitation from recent hamstring injury,” a Cricket Australia statement said. “It is a low-grade issue and he is expected to recommence running and bowling next week.”

Having said that, it is also revealed, that he might just miss out on MCG and SCG Tests as well. That has just added to the long list of injuries he has faced in the last few years. In 2022-23, he suffered a side strain in the first Test against India. Post that, he missed entire tour to India for the same issue.

Australia in trouble?

Last year, he missed one of the Tests against India, and then injured his calf. Post that, he missed the Sri Lanka tour and the Champions Trophy as well. Nonetheless, this loss could be detrimental for Australia, who are without their skipper, and another lead pacer in Pat Cummins, who is out due to back issue.

In 76 matches till now, Hazlewood has picked up 295 wickets at an average of 24, and has played a major role in team’s success over the years.
