Aaryavir Sehwag gets hit on box by Navdeep Saini, gets out 2 balls later in DPL Qualifier 1

Aaryavir Sehwag has had an iffy start to his Delhi Premier League (DPL) career.

The Qualifier 1 of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) brought an early flashpoint when Navdeep Saini went straight after Aaryavir Sehwag. The youngster, who has been making headlines with his strokeplay in recent weeks, found himself on the receiving end of raw pace. Two days ago, it was Junior Sehwag who got the better of the Indian international pacer.

Saini rattles Sehwag, Rohit gets the wicket

In the opening over, a back-of-length ball from Saini climbed awkwardly, struck Sehwag flush on the box, and left him sprawled on the ground in visible pain. The physio rushed in as Sehwag struggled to get back on his feet, and while he eventually stood up to resume his innings, the blow clearly left him unsettled.

What followed summed up the pressure he was under. Saini kept peppering him with short-of-length deliveries, and although Sehwag survived the over, he never quite looked in rhythm. Just two balls later, facing Rohit Yadav, he was undone completely. He was clean bowled by a sharp delivery that seamed back through the gate. The crowd at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, which had come in hoping to see some of that trademark Sehwag flair, was left in stunned silence.

The Qualifier 1 has been cut short to a 15-over per-side game. Being put to bat first East Delhi made just 90 runs, with Money Grewal rattling them again. However, Central Delhi, who finished as league leaders, lost 3 wickets inside the first five overs.
