Anmol Kharb sees drastic jump in BWF rankings after BATC, leapfrogs 136 places
Anmol Kharb had started the Badminton Asia Team Championships as the 474nd ranked player in the world.

Even though BWF badminton rankings might be inconsequential at the moment, with the Paris Olympic Qualification rankings taking precedence, but the former might just hold some value for 17-year-old Indian Anmol Kharb, who played a pivotal role in country’s Badminton Asia Team Championships winning campaign.

The former World No. 472 secured upset wins over China’s Wu LY, Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira, and P Choeikeewong of Thailand, to jump a massive 136 places, to be ranked 336th in the world now. That is huge considering Kharb was only appearing in her second senior ‘s competition — the first being Chhattisgarh India International Challenge in 2023, where she lost in the Round of 16.

Paris Olympics Qualification Rankings

In the men’s singles, it is only HS Prannoy who looks to be making the cut for Paris Olympics. Lakshya Sen is in 17th spot at the moment, while only 16 go through there. In the women’s singles, as expected, PV Sindhu looks like making the cut.

As far as doubles is concerned, the pairs of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, and Tanisha Crasto/Ashwini Ponnappa seem to be qualifying, as of now. The likes of Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand are tantalizingly close as well.
