Who Did “Izzy” Lose To In Kickboxing?

Israel Adesanya, the current middleweight champion of the UFC, is regarded as one of the sport’s top competitors. The 32-year-old’s career in combat sports hasn’t been faultless, though. The New Zealander with Nigerian ancestry has lost in both kickboxing and mixed martial arts.

Adesanya had a successful kickboxing career before switching to MMA, going undefeated in his early matches. In February 2014, everything was different. The first opponent to defeat him in a kickboxing match was Simon Marcus.

Young Adesanya’s decision defeat appeared to have an impact on him because just two months later, he lost his second kickboxing match. At Glory 15: Istanbul, “The Last Stylebender” suffered another decision loss, this time to Filip Verlinden.

Israel Adesanya eventually met Alex Pereira for the first time in his career after going on a strong run of form. It is well known that Pereira has defeated the UFC champion twice. Both fighters currently compete in the middleweight division of the UFC.

However, ‘The Last Stylebender’ also suffered a decision loss against Jason Wilnis between these two setbacks. The match happened in 2017 at Glory 37: Los Angeles. It was Israel Adesanya’s last kickboxing match before making the jump to MMA full-time.
