Terry Funk, a member of the WWE Hall of Fame and a former heavyweight champion of the NWA, has died, it happened in NBA Great Kobe Bryant’s 45th Birth Anniversary.
For his father’s Western States Sports organisation, Terry Funk made his professional wrestling debut in the middle of the 1960s. From there, he moved on to work for a number of other companies, such as WWE, ECW, NWA, Championship Wrestling from Florida, All Japan Pro Wrestling, and the Continental Wrestling Association.
On Wednesday afternoon, the news was acknowledged by legendary wrestlers Ric Flair and Mick Foley. WWE soon after confirmed it.

Funk, whose six-decade-long in-ring career included matches for almost all of the major US promotions, amassed a number of championships and awards from the wrestling community. In the 1960s, Funk spent the majority of his early career working in his father’s Western States Sports promotion in Amarillo, Texas, as a tag team partner with his brother, Dory Funk Jr.

In 1989, World Championship Wrestling brought Funk back into the national limelight of professional wrestling, where he engaged in a memorable feud with Ric Flair. Younger people will recall Funk’s tenure with ECW, and many give him credit for elevating the promotion to new heights. When ECW held its inaugural pay-per-view event, Barely Legal, in 1997, Funk won the ECW World Title there. Later, Funk returned to WWE for a run as Chainsaw Charlie, where he collaborated with people like Mick Foley and the New Age Outlaws.
In 2021, wrestling great Don Muraco announced that Funk had dementia and was residing in an assisted living home, making Funk’s health problems public. Later, it was revealed via his Twitter account that he had experienced several medical problems.
The wrestling community experienced an emotional outburst following the news of Funk’s passing.
