Star India shuttler PV Sindhu announced on X, that legendary shuttler Prakash Padukone has joined her team as a mentor, and will be training at the latter’s academy in Bengaluru.

Sindhu wrote on the social media site, “For those wondering and constantly asking me 😅, the cat is finally out of the bag!! Prakash sir is assuming the role of the mentor in my setup. I started training with him at the end of August, and it’s been uphill ever since. He’s more than a mentor; he’s my guide, my guru, and, above all, a true friend. I wholeheartedly believe he possesses the magic to bring out the absolute best from my game. I am so grateful he reached out to me with one call when I was in Japan, and we’ve built on that connection exceptionally well. Dear sir, I AM PUMPED!! Looking forward to training with you! Let’s get to work.”

Sindhu-Padukone Association

The WR-11 Sindhu had previously worked with Padukone in August-September as well. As per a report in the Indian Express, the only goal that Sindhu-Padukone team is looking at is, winning the Olympics gold, and nothing else. “Long-term goal is the Olympic gold. Nothing less than that. Along the way try to win the All-England title as well since I believe it is one of the toughest tournaments on the circuit,” Padukone said.

Sindhu Injury & Dip in Form

It was recently that Sindhu had picked up a left knee injury and has been out of action for close to a month. Upon her return from an ankle injury in early 2023, she suffered a dip in form and struggled throughout the year. Her only notable performances came during the Arctic Open, Denmark Open, Canada Open, and Malaysia Masters.
