Adam Zampa's swimming experiment turned into a nightmare, as the leg spinner hurt himself by hitting a wall ahead of AUS match against IND

Over the past six to seven months, team Australia have suffered some bizarre swimming pool incidents, which has hurt players badly. After Alex Carey, the most recent to get hurt in the pool is leg spinner Adam Zampa. The 28-year-old thought he would causally beat the heat by swimming his way out got hit in the wall. While Aussie skipper Pat Cummins has not officially ruled Zampa of their opening World Cup fixture against India, the leg spinner’s injury scare has worried Cummins a bit.

“He swam to the pool wall, apparently,” Cummins said with a laugh to Cricket Australia.

“He said he had his eyes closed and thought he was swimming in a straight line and swam into the step in the pool. It looks impressive. He’s good. He’s just a little bit sore, so we’ve had a pretty quiet week or two, but he’s ready to go.”

While Cummins saw the funny side of things, fans were also not left behind, as they also funnily commented on Zampa’s swimming stunt. One of the users wrote, “Swimming pool jinx – Then Alex Carey, now Adam Zampa.” Another netizen commented, “What was he doing in the hotels? Swimming pool in the first place?”. Another user wrote, “If he fell in it it is the ritualistic baptism before a spike in form.”

Adam Zampa: Cummins hoping his lead spinner Zampa clears fitness test ahead of the match against India

Zampa’s absence could prove to be a disaster for Australia, as he is their lead spinner. Also, Zampa bowls the crucial middle overs and is very effective in that phase, conceding five runs per below. The leg spinner has taken 58 middle-over wickets (the most by any bowler in this phase since 2019 WC). The next best bowler for Australia in the middle order phase is Josh Hazlewood, with 16 wickets.

With IND vs AUS match being played in Chennai, Cummins would be hoping Zampa is fully fit.
