The latest developer preview for Destiny: Rising has officially unveiled Season of Providence (Season 3), a massive content update arriving just in time for the new year. As the timeline shifts, Lightbearers must prepare for legendary threats, tactical tower defense challenges, and the arrival of a fan-favorite icon.
Destiny: Rising – The Shadow of the Moon: Crota’s End
The highlight of the update is the return of the “Eater of Hope.” On January 3rd, the classic Raid mode Crota’s End officially joins Destiny: Rising as a new Gauntlet Op.
The developers have optimized this Hive-god encounter specifically for mobile, featuring:
- Dual Difficulties: Both Normal and Challenge modes will launch simultaneously to cater to new players and seasoned veterans.
- Touchscreen Optimization: While the oppressive atmosphere remains, mechanics have been tweaked to feel fluid on mobile controls.
- World First Rewards: The first fireteam to conquer Challenge mode will earn the unique right to vote on which character receives the next “Crota-style” ornament set.
- Easter Egg: In a nod to community history, a hidden “accident” from the original game has been recreated as a non-game-breaking Easter egg for players to discover.

Tower Defense: Bulwark Ops
A new collaboration between the Iron Lords and the mysterious arms dealer Adelaide Meyrin introduces Bulwark Ops. This mode blends classic Destiny gunplay with tower defense strategy. Players must defend a Red Sea Rift Warmind bunker from waves of extraterrestrial invaders.
By utilizing Black Armory Towers, players can deploy up to 30 different turret types, each with unique combat styles. Success relies on tactical placement and synergy between your character’s Light powers and tower upgrades.
A Hero Reborn: Kabr, the Resolute
In a significant departure from the tragic lore of other timelines, the developers are celebrating the community’s love for Kabr. As a gift to the players, Kabr will be available as a free, guaranteed Mythic Arc character. By completing his specific in-game event, everyone can add Wolf’s first partner to their roster. Additionally, the Exotic Scout Rifle Symmetry makes its debut this season to bolster your arsenal.
Coming in late January, Operation Cordon will push fireteams to their absolute limits. This endgame mode tasks three-person teams with venturing into the Extremis Zone, an area with no upper limit on difficulty. Players will face infected Shinkas and environmental hazards, using custom modifiers to balance high-risk threats with high-score rewards.
